Penn State defensive line coach Sean Spencer has to figure out how to replace last season’s defensive tackles — Parker Cothren and Curtis Cothran — for the upcoming season. Fortunately, the Nittany Lions have both talent and experience on the defensive line depth chart. Kevin Givens returns for his third year of action with the Nittany Lions and will have an opportunity to play a vital role at defensive tackle.
Givens came to Penn State from nearby Altoona High School as a three-star athlete who could play linebacker or defensive end. The Penn State coaching staff had plans of putting him at defensive end at first, but switched him to defensive tackle after receiving a redshirt his first year.
