Safety is a position that is crowded on the depth chart for Penn State football in 2018. Despite losing both starters from last year — Marcus Allen and Troy Apke — there are several players ready to step up at safety. One player ready to take a big step forward for the Nittany Lions is Garrett Taylor.
After two years that included injuries and a position change from cornerback to safety, Taylor has an opportunity to make an impact as a redshirt senior.
Last year, Taylor appeared in all 13 games on both defense and special teams and finished with 12 total tackles.
