Penn State field hockey's season ends against unbeaten Connecticut in NCAA quarterfinals

After a back and forth battle for the right to play in the Final Four, No. 6 Penn State's season came to an end vs. No. 1 UConn on Sunday afternoon.

The Huskies topped the Nittany Lions 4-3 from Storrs, Connecticut to end Penn State's season.

UConn started out hot, scoring two goals before the 20-minute mark through Casey Umstead and later Svea Boker.

However, the Nittany Lions wouldn't go into halftime at a deficit and were able to string together two goals of their own thanks to Shay Cannon and Bes Bovelander.

The high scoring first half ended with identical stats for both goalies, as Jenny Rizzo and Nina Klein both had recorded just three saves to accompany the 2-2 score.
