Penn State field hockey advances to Big Ten Tournament final with upset win over Maryland

Despite having all odds against them, Penn State was able to come out dominating against Maryland — the defending Big Ten champions and second-best team in the country — in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament.

The game finished with a 1-0 Penn State win. The Nittany Lions will now go on to play in the finals on Sunday against the winner of Friday night’s game between Iowa and Northwestern.

Penn State was first on the board in the middle of the first quarter when junior Emma Spisak tipped it into the net.
