EVANSTON, Ill. — Penn State hasn’t had a week off since August, grinding through week after week while making adjustments and altering the practice schedule to get to this point.
This bye week, however, requires a long look in the mirror after the Nittany Lions struggled in all three phases in a 23-21 Big Ten Conference loss Saturday to Northwestern. Penn State practiced Sunday and will have the usual day off Monday and will practice again Tuesday and Wednesday. The Lions (7-3, 4-2) have plenty to look at when they dissect these problems, both new and reoccurring, that showed up against the Wildcats.
