Redshirt freshman cornerback T.J. Johnson will seek a transfer out of the program, according to Sean Fitz of Lions247.
A late addition to the recruiting Class of 2016, the Cleveland, Ohio native redshirted as a true freshman and then shined in the Blue-White game back in April, where he recorded five tackles (one for loss) and snared an interception to give some belief that he might crack the corner rotation for coordinator Brent Pry's defense this fall.
That won't happen.
Fitz cited program sources in reporting the news, and also confirmed it with Johnson himself.
It was not clear where the 6-foot-2, 185-pound corner planned to transfer to.
