Soccer is back in State College.
As the summer sun beat down on Jeffrey Field, the Nittany Lions shined in a 2-1 victory over Army.
Both teams had chances off the draw, although the match remained scoreless through much of the first half.
Army pressed early, with a quick 2-on-1 opportunity that fell apart in the box. Penn State countered with a chance of its own, but Army’s defenders broke the play down before it reached the Black Knight’s goaltender Blair Camargo.
After a physical opening few minutes, Penn State’s Christian Dionne was awarded a penalty kick just outside the box, but was quickly headed out by Army’s defense.
