Penn State baseball wins second straight against Northwestern

For the first time in four years, Penn State has reached 21 wins, and the team did it with some offensive muscle.

With the help of Greg Guers’ three hits, the Nittany Lions beat Northwestern 8-2 on Saturday in Evanston, Illinois.

The last time the Lions (21-14, 7-4 Big Ten) had over 21 wins was in 2012, when the team finished two games over .500.

Against the Wildcats (9-26, 2-9 Big Ten), the Lions got things started early, scoring their first two runs in the second inning.

First, centerfielder Jordan Bowersox singled up the middle to bring home Tyler Kendall for the inning’s first run.
