Penn State baseball sails past Lafayette in team’s highest scoring game of the season

Third baseman Jim Haley gripped his bat and swung it side to side as he made his way from the on-deck circle to home plate in the top of the third inning.

Two pitches later, he was hit by a pitch that set off a succession of scored runs for Penn State. Eight batters later, Haley came up to the plate for the second time in the same inning.

On a night when outs were a commodity, the Nittany Lions scored nine runs on six hits in the third inning alone, amounting to their eighth straight win during the team’s 20-12 victory over Lafayette on Wednesday at Kamine Stadium.
