Temperatures in the low 40s and a consistent mist graced Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Friday for Penn State’s afternoon matchup with USC.
While both teams struggled early on, the Nittany Lions prevailed with a late-inning offensive push to open the series with a 3-1 win over the Trojans.
While the cold hindered offensive production, Penn State felt comfortable enough to find an edge over the squad visiting from sunny Los Angeles.
“This is home, that’s what we’re used to. Coming in, we knew it was going to be like this outside, so we just got our minds around it and played our game,” center fielder Paxton Kling said.
