Upon losing its first games of the season this weekend against a tough Duke team, Penn State showed signs of life and progress it didn’t show last year.
After starting 6-0 for the first time since 1980, the Nittany Lions went 1-2 against No. 21 Duke (9-2) and now sit at 7-2 — an improvement compared to their 4-5 record through nine games last year.
Last season saw the Nittany Lions produce an 0-25 record when trailing after six innings, and they already surpassed that total in their 8-7 comeback win in the second game against the Blue Devils after trailing 7-6 heading into the seventh frame.
