Penn State baseball holds on to 2-1 lead to defeat Duke

Penn State reliever Jack Anderson jogged to the mound in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs and a runner on base as Duke threatened to overtake the team’s narrow lead.

A full inning later, the senior struck out two batters and closed the game to earn his third save of the season.

The Nittany Lions defeated the Blue Devils 2-1 during the team’s midweek match up on Wednesday afternoon in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The Blue Devils (8-5) jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the third inning off a lead-off walk that placed runners on the corners to draw in the first run of the game.
