An early three-run deficit off a homer by South Carolina’s Alex Destino from an off key pitch by Penn State starter Sal Biasi was enough for the Nittany Lions to fall behind.
The Lions fell 16-5 to the No. 15 Gamecocks on Saturday in South Carolina during the team's second road tournament of the season.
Biasi faced troublemaker Destino again in the second inning, but the sophomore pitcher struck him out this time around.
After the early deficit, the Lions’ offense connected on an RBI single from senior Greg Guers, who was the first player to put the team on the board in the third inning.
