Just when it looked like Penn State had finally figured out how to play with a lead in the late innings, the seventh inning rolled around on Sunday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions were able to grind out a couple of tough runs in the middle innings thanks to a two-out rally in the fifth and a solo home run from Connor Klemann in the following frame.
However, that 2-0 advantage would evaporate in a wild top half of the seventh inning in which NJIT tallied seven runs on eight hits to take the lead and eventually earn an 8-6 win.
