Penn State baseball cruises past Georgetown, avoids first losing streak of season

After Georgetown spoiled Penn State’s pristine 6-0 road record on Tuesday, the Nittany Lions returned to Capital One Park looking to avoid getting swept for the first time this season.

The blue and white eluded its first losing streak and defeated the Hoyas, 11-6.

Reliever Griffin O’Connor served as the opener for Georgetown, entering Wednesday’s contest allowing nine runs in his last three and one-third innings. Despite past struggles, O’Connor started Wednesday on the right note.

O’Connor faced early traffic in the first and second frames following singles from shortstop Ryan Weingartner, center fielder Paxton Kling and designated hitter Jack Porter, but he was able to get out of each inning unscathed.
