Penn State baseball can't uphold early-game success, falls to rival Pitt

In the early innings on Wednesday, Penn State’s pitchers kept the Pitt baserunners stranded on the bags.

But by the later frames, the Nittany Lions could no longer hold their opponents 90 feet away. The Panthers scored runs in each of the final four innings, edging the blue and white 7-2.

Right-hander Conor Larkin got the start for the Nittany Lions and was dominant. The sophomore tossed arguably his best start of the season, working through 4.2 innings of shutout baseball while striking out a career-high eight batters.

Larkin worked out of multiple jams in the start, including a one-out, bases juiced situation in the fourth inning.
