Penn State baseball can’t take advantage of weak pitching staff in Wednesday's loss

Entering Wednesday evening, Lafayette starting pitcher Trey Zaffiro was having a disastrous year.

The freshman was sporting a 27.00 ERA, with his deepest outing this season just two and one-third innings, occurring in his season opener on Feb. 15 against Southern Mississippi. His .444 batting average against and 3.15 WHIP entering Wednesday have combined for a suboptimal first season at the helm.

For a team in Penn State that ranks inside the top six in the Big Ten in a majority of the general hitting statistics, taking advantage of Zaffiro on the first warm night of the season was a must.
