Penn State alum Micha Hancock serves up win for USA volleyball

The service game Penn State women’s volleyball fans were so used to seeing in Rec Hall was on full display at the Pan American Cup on Saturday.

Micha Hancock delivered 11 aces in the U.S. national team’s opening-match win over Venezuela 25-9, 25-16, 25-11.

The setter, who was the 2014 AVCA National Player of the Year while helping the Nittany Lions to the national championship, posted her ace total on 21 service attempts. She added two kills. She was the team’s setter for the first two sets, with former Wisconsin standout Lauren Carlini running the offense in the third as the team hit .
