The men’s hockey team won its sixth straight game on Friday night with a wild 5-4 win over No. 12 Michigan. Penn State has played its way back near the NCAA Tournament bubble and won for just the fifth time in 20 tries at Yost Ice Arena.

First Period

The home team drew first blood just five minutes into the game. Jackson Hallum caught the Penn State defense flat-footed near the blue line and created a quick 2-on-1 rush. With Arsenii Sergeev out of position, Hallum found Evan Werner wide open, and Werner easily scored with the net yawning to put Michigan up 1-0.
