Captain Simon Mack’s overtime snipe against his former teammate lifted No. 15 Penn State to a 4-3 overtime win over No. 3 Minnesota at a raucous Pegula Ice Arena. The win now has the Nittany Lions on the right side of the bubble with one more game tomorrow night. Guy Gadowsky earned his 400th win as an NCAA head coach.
First Period
Minnesota dominated the first half of the first period with suffocating pressure in the offensive zone. The Gophers were eventually rewarded for their efforts when a rebound chance found an open Mason Nevers, and he found the back of the net with Arsenii Sergeev out of position for a 1-0 Minnesota lead.
