Penn State men’s basketball (2-0) remained undefeated after cruising by UMBC (1-1) 103-54 Friday evening at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The Nittany Lions were once again firing on all cylinders offensively, allowing some of their key players to take back-seat roles.
Both teams started quite slow, missing four shots a piece before Yanic Konan Niederhauser broke things open for Penn State with a duece at the 17:57 mark. The floodgates opened from there as the Nittany Lions jumped out to a 17-4 lead shortly after the U16 media timeout.
Mike Rhoades’ squad expanded its lead by playing a typical brand of basketball: forcing turnovers, scoring in transition, and playing stout defense.
