Coming off a dominant win on a netural site against a fellow power conference foe in Virginia Tech, Penn State headed back to the friendly confines of the Bryce Jordan Center to take on Purdue Fort Wayne. It would be the Nittany Lions’ final tune-up before heading down to Dayton Beach, Florida for next week’s Sunshine Slam tournament.
The first half saw a lehtargic, lazy, effort overall from the Nittany Lions (especially on defense), as PFW maintained a small, but consistent lead throughout. Penn State’s vaunted full court press that had caused problems for their previous opponents was getting broken by the Mastodons and despite their massive height advantage, the Mastodons had their way on the offensive glass.
