It was a different look for Purdue last year with former Illinois assistant Ryan Walters taking over as head coach. And it wasn’t a good look. The Boilermakers finished 4-8 overall and 3-6, tied for fourth place in the Big Ten West. Oh, by the way, tied for fourth place is a nice way of saying finished in the basement. The season did finish on a bit of an uptick at least with Purdue pulling an upset in beating Minnesota and then closing the year with a rivalry win against Indiana for the Old Oaken Bucket. That would prove to be the final game as Hoosier head coach for now Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Allen.
