When Allen Robinson departed to the NFL, most thought Geno Lewis would be the next logical step in Penn State’s newly found wide receiver competency. For a brief period, it looked like that would materialize. Against UCF in 2014, Lewis had eight receptions for 173 yards and a touchdown. He had another 98 yards against and 109 against Rutgers.
DaeSean Hamilton’s emergence throughout the season, however, meant that Lewis’ usage would steadily drop with time. By the end of 2015, after both Hamilton and Chris Godwin had established themselves as the clear top two, Lewis’ production had dropped to about two receptions a game.
