Only Dennis Onkotz Until Penn State Football

Dennis Onkotz played linebacker for Penn State in the roaring 60s, and helped PSU earn the Linebacker U moniker. Dennis first started as a sophomore in 1967, and played through both the 1968 and 1969 undefeated seasons. His contributions in '68 and '69 earned Onkotz first-team All-America honors both seasons.

During his career, Dennis recorded 287 tackles, a number that stands third all time in school history. He added in 11 interceptions (eighth in school history), including three pick-sixes (tied for first in school history). He was also small enough - he played at 215 pounds - that he served as a punt returner, averaging 13.
