Alex Birchmeier wears No. 63 and that’s how many days we are away from Penn State’s football season kicking off at West Virginia.
The state champion wrestler was a consensus four-star recruit and Under Armour All-American in Penn State’s 2022 class. Last year, he redshirted and saw other linemen from his class get on the field.
But, that will almost assuredly change in 2024. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein is known for playing his depth, especially early in the season. Birchmeier figures to get some snaps early in the season even with other talented young offensive linemen on the roster.
