Ohio State defeated Penn State 4-3 in overtime in the Big Ten semifinals on Saturday night. The Nittany Lions will now await their NCAA Tournament fate with their Big Ten Tournament run officially over.
First Period
Ohio State controlled most of the first period with its forecheck and speed through the neutral zone. The Buckeyes peppered Arsenii Sergeev early, and eventually they broke through when Gunnarwolfe Fontaine deflected a point shot by Aiden-Hansen Bukata to give Ohio State a 1-0 lead.
Aiden Fink took a hooking penalty shortly after the goal, but the Lions killed it off rather easily.
