The Nittany Lions fared well in the later weight classes on day one with three of the four advancing to the Big Ten Championships.

Big Ten championship: No. 1 seed Levi Haines (PSU) vs No. 3 seed Lenny Pinto (NEB)
In the first match between these two this season, Haines was victorious. Haines wrestled at 157 pounds last season and was trying to become a back-to-back national champion in two different weight classes. Pinto was at 184 pounds last season.
After some back and forth, Haines was the first on the scoreboard and led, 3-0, after the first period.
