Coach Mark Pavlik made one aspect clear throughout the week leading up to his squad’s series against Sacred Heart.
After a tough four-set loss to Charleston last Saturday, Pavlik wanted to see his team improve at closing out sets. Penn State let multiple set leads slip away in crunch-time moments, allowing the Golden Eagles to do something a road team hasn’t done in two seasons — win a match at Rec Hall.
“When we get the lead after 20, shut it down,” Pavlik said last Tuesday.
The Nittany Lions did exactly that in their first opportunity since.
