An intense contest took place in Rec Hall today as No. 4 Penn State defeated Michigan State 3-1.
Set 1 commenced and the Nittany Lions and Spartans came out swinging, exchanging back-and-forth volleys. Jess Mruzik powered through Michigan State’s defense to secure her first kill and put Penn State up 4-3.
That lead was short lived after the blue and white committed two attack errors. Michigan State remained aggressive, trying to pick apart Penn State’s formation, but Taylor Trammell stayed poised at the net and swatted Taylor Preston for her first block of the match.
