Sunday saw a rematch between Big Ten foes in bordering states.
No. 4 Penn State defeated Maryland in four sets (25-13, 22-25, 25-13, 25-15), marking its second win over the Terrapins this season after its four-set victory on Oct. 3.
The blue and white got rolling right away, swinging kills from the middle of the court and near the antennas before Jess Mruzik dealt an ace to lead, 6-3. However, Maryland quickly closed the gap, and two aces later saw Set 1 tied, 6-6.
Penn State speed on defense was on full display, turning strong attacks from the Terrapins into well-positioned balls for its own offense.
