The day after Halloween, Penn State’s scoring runs caused spooky results for Iowa.
Runs defined Friday night’s match, and the Nittany Lions’ 7-0 run in Set 3 powered a response to the Hawkeyes’ Set 2 win, eventually leading to a four-set victory over Iowa in Rec Hall.
“I think (Iowa is) doing some great things there,” coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley said. “I thought we responded well and served a lot more aggressively and passed better towards the end of the match.”
The squads were knotted up in Set 1, 10-10, but the blue and white quickly outclassed the Hawkeyes in the volleys to come.
