Penn State entered Rec Hall seeking its third win of the weekend and a sweep of the Penn State Invitational.
No. 3 Penn State swept St. John’s 3-0 to retain its perfect record.
The first set opened with a back-and-forth race to ten points, which was won by the Nittany Lions. They extended their lead to 12-9, forcing St. John’s to call its first timeout of the match.
Penn State retained control after the break, led by Jess Mruzik’s five kills to put the home team up 22-16.
A late hitting exchange led to a set-ending service error by Erin Jones.
