No. 11 Penn State men’s hockey can’t rebound from first period woes, drops 6-3 affair at No. 7 Minnesota

Some rinks in college hockey have a unique aspect or kink that makes it challenging for opposing teams to come and win.

Penn State has its daunting student section sit at a steep angle on top of the ice while Michigan’s blue lines are pushed closer to mid-ice to extend the offensive and defensive zones. For Minnesota, its familiarity playing on its massive sheet of ice that spans 200-feet by-100 feet, makes it challenging for visiting teams to claim a win.

The Nittany Lions claimed its second-ever win in nine tries at 3M Arena at Mariucci on Friday, but dropped Sunday’s contest to the Gophers 6-3.
