As Cale Gundy approaches his 19th bowl game as an Oklahoma assistant, no staff member aside from strength coach Jerry Schmidt is as invested in the program. He is billed as Lincoln Riley’s assistant head coach, along with his duties as inside receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.
Would he relish a chance to become an offensive coordinator? Maybe call plays?
“Oh, I’d love to. I feel like I could do it,” Gundy said Friday at the team's Rose Bowl media opportunity. “It’s been a transition for me to go in the (press) box (during games). It’s something that Lincoln and Bob (Stoops) asked me to do when they came in with the system because the system has two wide receiver coaches.
