BRONX, N.Y. — Right place. Right time.
Anthony Nelson insists he was just doing his job.
The Iowa sophomore defensive end did it well, creating a fourth-quarter fumble as he sacked Boston College quarterback Darius Wade. Parker Hesse recovered and set up the Hawkeyes’ game-winning drive in Wednesday’s 27-20 Pinstripe Bowl victory over Boston College.
After tying the game at 20-20 on a 24-yard field goal by Colton Lichtenberg with 8 minutes, 9 seconds remaining, the Eagles’ defense forced Iowa to punt from its 10-yard line, allowing Boston College to take over near midfield.
Nelson didn’t allow the Eagles to take any momentum, creating the second of the Hawkeyes’ three takeaways in the game.
