Pitt had four athletic programs and Penn State had three recognized by the NCAA for high marks on their Academic Progress Rates (APR) for the 2015-16 school year.
The Panthers were honored for men’s basketball, softball, women’s cross country and women’s tennis; the Nittany Lions for women’s tennis, women’s volleyball and wrestling. For Pitt, the four honorees are the most in a single year. The men’s basketball team has now been recognized for an exemplary APR four years in a row and six of the past seven.
“We are extremely proud of our programs that were recognized by the NCAA for APR excellence,” Pitt athletic director Heather Lyke said in a statement.
