Gabi Jacobs and Valerie Thames added to the Missouri contingent head to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships after qualifying Friday at the West Preliminary in Austin, Texas.
Redshirt sophomore Jacobs followed up on her SEC title by unleashing a school-record throw of 191 feet in the discus — topping Kearsten Peoples' 188-0 in 2014 — to finish fifth in the event and move on to Eugene, Oregon. Senior Thames, meanwhile, took the 12th and final spot in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 59.09 seconds.
Thames also advanced to the quarterfinals in the 100 hurdles, and senior LaQuisha Jackson moved on to the quarters of the 200.
