The Missouri athletic program recorded the highest finish in its history in the Learfield Directors' Cup, a measurement of NCAA Division I institutions' finishes in up to 20 sports.

MU finished 33rd in the 2016-17 Directors' Cup standings behind top-16 NCAA championship finishes in wrestling (fifth), women's indoor track & field (eighth), men's swimming & diving (ninth), women's swimming & diving (13th), women's cross country (16th) and volleyball (Sweet 16).

"Mizzou athletics has enjoyed an outstanding all-around year, academically and athletically," Missouri athletic director Jim Sterk said in a statement Thursday. "This year's success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our coaches, student-athletes and staff, and I'm confident that even greater things are in store for our program in future years.
