For the second time in as many seasons, it appears that placekicking is a problem for the Nittany Lions.
Entering the 2023 season, Sander Sahaydak was the starting field goal kicker, promptly missed two field goals against West Virginia and was benched for the rest of the season. Last year the Lions turned to Alex Felkins who made 19 field goals on 24 attempts, and field goal kicking was essentially a non-factor the rest of the year.
Here we are a year later, and it appears that Sahaydak is still an up-and-down kicker at best. Through four games, Sander is just 2-of-5 for field goals on the year, and was oh-fer on two attempts Saturday against Illinois.
