Missouri redshirt junior Alex Pascal raised his arms to the crowd in celebration after moving on to javelin finals at the NCAA Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. He had just launched what would be his longest throw of the night, which would earn him a fourth-place finish after finals.
Pascal and teammate senior Reinhard Van Zyl both competed Wednesday in the second flight of the javelin. The top nine throws between the two flights qualified and moved on to finals.
Pascal scratched his first throw of finals and neither of his last two throws in finals surpassed his earlier throw of 247 feet, 4 inches, which was the third best throw in Missouri track and field program history.
