Missouri soccer dispatches LSU, clinches unlikely SEC tournament berth

Shortly after Missouri soccer (7-11-1) defeated Louisiana State 2-0 on Thursday night, the Tigers grouped together.

They screamed. They jumped. They sprayed water out of their Gatorade bottles and into the air.

Yes, it was an important win, but they weren't elated because of the victory. The burst of exhilaration came about after they noticed Texas A&M had scored a goal, putting the Aggies up 2-1 in a game the Tigers needed them to win over Mississippi State.

They did. So did Kentucky, 3-0 over Georgia.

These two results combined with Missouri's meant the Tigers would clinch a spot in the Southeastern Conference tournament — the Tigers own the tiebreaker among the three teams.
