In the second-most deflating loss by a Penn State team today, the men’s hockey team fell 1-0 to Minnesota on the road on Saturday night. The Lions only allowed 12 shots in the game, but the Gophers found the back of the net in the final minute of regulation.
First Period
The first period was a giant mess of penalties, including a game misconduct against Minnesota’s Jimmy Snuggerud for an illegal check to the head. Penn State outshot Minnesota 11-4 in the period, but the game remained scoreless at the end of the first.
Second Period
Penn State could not capitalize on the five-minute power play.
