While his teammates get to enjoy the competition and Bahamas sunshine, Mike Watkins was left behind.
As the Nittany Lions embark on their first foreign tour since 2013, the rising redshirt sophomore did not travel with the team on the orders of coach Pat Chambers.
"It is important that our players understand that representing our program and this university is a privilege and they must meet the standards we have established for Penn State basketball," Chambers said in a statement via Penn State Athletics.
He did not elaborate on Watkins' punishment. Nonetheless, it will be a blow for the 6-foot-9 big man to miss out on the chance to get some needed game action against solid competition, build a bigger rapport with his teammates, and, of course, enjoy the Bahamas.
