One of the most productive tight ends in the history of Penn State football is headed to an NFL team with a major need at his position.
Mike Gesicki, Penn State’s all-time reception leader among tight ends, was taken by the Miami Dolphins with the 10th pick in the second round of the NFL draft Friday night, 42nd overall. Miami cut starter Julius Thomas this offseason, so it clearly needed a replacement, but it was a matter of which player they might choose.
Turns out, the Dolphins valued Gesicki more than South Dakota State standout Dallas Goedert, viewed by many analysts as the second-best tight end in this draft class.
