First Period
Penn State controlled play in the early minutes of the first period and led 9-1 in shots on goal at one point. But it was the home team who drew first blood when TJ Hughes found the puck in a chaotic scramble in front of the net and scored to give Michigan a 1-0 lead.
Second Period
Charlie Cerrato tied the game at 1 early in the second when his backhand shot on a 3-on-2 rush went five-hole right through Cameron Korpi.
