Penn State led for 24:48 minutes throughout its tilt against Indiana, an advantageous number to put a team in a position to win.
However, the Nittany Lions couldn’t hold on late, allowing the Hoosiers to take an 83-78 win, which further showcased the issues the team has with holding onto leads.
While coach Mike Rhoades’ squad’s struggles in Big Ten play can be attributed to late-game issues, there were three problems with the team in crunch time on Wednesday.
Poor perimeter defense
Entering Wednesday’s game, Indiana shot 3-pointers at a 31.1% clip. While any team could get hot from deep at any moment, it's reasonable to believe that 3-point shooting wouldn’t be a reason why the Hoosiers would win a game.
