In the first Big Ten home match of the season, Penn State relied on two of its star hitters to propel the team to its first home conference win.
Maggie Mendelson’s key blocking and career-high 14 kills gave the team a second hitter to rely on when things got tough.
Mendelson started from the get-go with two kills to help her squad get out to a 6-5 lead.
However, the Nittany Lions would struggle to get anything going in the rest of the set as Michigan State remained in control until the end.
Mendelson would add another kill to pull the blue and white to within a point but it wasn’t enough to take the first set.
