Matt Traynor unleashes a seven-point game in opening victory over Colgate

The Panzer Stadium crowd rallied in a symphony of cheers as yet another tally was added to No. 12 Penn State’s lead. They didn’t have to guess who scored as it was Matt Traynor’s fifth of the day.

Defeating Colgate 14-9 on Saturday afternoon in Happy Valley, the Nittany Lions’ attackman took the spotlight to begin the season on a high note.

Penn State and the Raiders opened the game trading goals. In the second quarter, however, the blue and white stepped on the gas with eight goals to close out the first half leading 10-5.

Traynor stood out amongst the most impactful players, putting three goals and one assist on the board in the first half alone.
