UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Nyeem Wartman walks the halls of Penn State’s Lasch Football Building, thinking aloud about what’s ahead. Usually it’s a list of daily tasks including meetings, practice, class, film study and on this early April afternoon, it even includes a quick nap on a leather sofa in the players lounge.
Wartman isn’t just dreaming about spring football. He’s thinking big picture, too, wondering about his upcoming redshirt junior season and beyond. He’s supposed to be the next one. He’s the linebacker tasked with moving inside to replace NFL-bound Mike Hull, putting Wartman in a position he dreamed about since his unofficial visit as a high schooler.
